HOW IT WORKS
Ever been confused about how and where to buy beef? How to get it to the processor? Or maybe you've wondered what the final cost will be and what’s included in the process. We get it—those unknowns can be overwhelming. That’s why we’ve put together an easy-to-order deal for your convenience. Skip the stress and let us handle the details. Best of all, it’s all available at a fair and reasonable price.
Pricing
Our grain-fed beef typically yields 40-42% of its live weight as take-home beef, with more bone-in cuts resulting in a higher yield. This equates to approximately 250 lbs. for a half beef and 500 lbs. for a whole beef. The cost for a half beef is around $1,800, standard processing adds approximately $450, which is paid separately to the processor, Magro’s Meats. All pricing is based on post-harvest hanging weight, currently set at $4.50 per pound.
Understanding the Wait Time for Your Processed Beef
Once you contact us to reserve a beef share, we’ll schedule a harvest date that works for you. A few days before harvest, we’ll reach out with a reminder. After the harvest, Magro’s Meats will contact you directly to discuss your specific cutting instructions. Once your beef is harvested, it doesn’t go straight to the freezer. The beef must undergo a crucial aging process to enhance tenderness and flavor. Typically, our beef is dry-aged for about 10-14 days, allowing natural enzymes to break down muscle fibers, resulting in a more flavorful and tender product.
After the aging process, the butcher will begin processing your beef to your specifications, followed by packaging and freezing. In total, you can expect a wait time of approximately 2 to 3 weeks from harvest to when your beef is ready for pickup.
We’ll keep you updated throughout the process and notify you as soon as your order is ready. Quality takes time, and we appreciate your patience as we ensure you receive the best possible product.
